Zully Ruiz, arrived in United States at the age of 15, graduated from Miami Edison Sr. High School in 1965, attended
Miami Dade Community College and Unversity of Miami for R.E. education courses.
In April 18, 1973 obtained her R.E.
license. Soon Zully became interested in land sales and her opportunity came in western part of Miami Dade County in
a subdivision called J.G.Heads Farms.
The area was ripe for building and she started obtaining waivers of plats
and selling to developers. In 1980, Zully Ruiz Enterprises Inc. was well known for her land expertise and the firm began
adding zoning and platting coordination services. Zully pioneered the South Kendall Area (Metro Zoo Area) In 1986, she
met a very important man. Harold E. Kendall Sr., who trusted her and listed 80 acres of his land. Her coordination
and selling techniques help closed over 200 acres in the area for over 1,000 residential sites. After that many areas
followed, such as West Kendall 157 Ave S.W. from Bird Road to Miller Road where she sold and coordinated all the entitlements
for Park Lakes, the 100 acre developement owned by Sergio Pino. Then came the biggest chance, THE DORAL AREA. It was
1993, right after Hurricane Andrew, where Zully decided to move her office and all her concentration to this gold mine area.
In Doral, she had the opportunity to reserve 90 acres, zoned it all into different developments and sold them to builders
anxious to purchase land that was fully entitled and ready to build on. To culminate as an entrpeneur, Zully and
Brian a partner built Piazza Vecchia in Doral,
a 68 attached home development which earned
5 awards in 2003 from the F.A.M.E. Awards. Miami Dade County bigges sale was sold by Zully in 2004. The Islands
of Doral for $141,000,000.
The infill called her attention and EastWard Ho it was. She quickly assembled
nine parcels of land to approve a 177 mixed use highrise, now called "The Gables Marquis". The boom days also
brought the Office Market to her attention and together with Brian Strelitz purchased the High Valley Building in Ponce
de Leon. The 44,000 s.f. building was totally renovated into 30 office suites, plus retail with Mediterranean Design.
Other commercial ventures and residential conversions were fully completed and sold during the 2007-2010 rough years. Of
course, Zully has given back to the community. She has served in Task Forces, Community Development Boards, Governmental
Affairs Committees, School Board Committees, and from 2002-2008, was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to Florida
Housing Board. Zully Ruiz continues to be a member of Builder Association of South Florida, where she has been
in the Board of Directors several times.
